About the course

The Green Hydrogen eCourse provides an in-depth exploration of green hydrogen, a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy source produced through the electrolysis of water using renewable energy. The course begins with an introduction to hydrogen, its properties, and the different types of hydrogen production, including gray, blue, and green hydrogen, highlighting the minimal greenhouse gas emissions associated with green hydrogen. It covers the electrolysis process, detailing how renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power are used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. Various electrolysis technologies, such as Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM), alkaline, and Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell (SOEC), are examined for their advantages and challenges. The course delves into the industrial applications of green hydrogen, including steel production and ammonia synthesis, and its role in the transportation sector through hydrogen fuel cells for vehicles. The environmental benefits, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting climate goals, are emphasized, along with the economic opportunities of job creation and investment in green hydrogen infrastructure. Challenges in the adoption of green hydrogen, including high production costs and regulatory barriers, are discussed, along with future prospects and innovations aimed at improving efficiency and reducing costs. The course concludes with a summary of key concepts, a quiz and assessment to test understanding, and resources for further learning and engagement. Overall, the eCourse equips learners with a comprehensive understanding of green hydrogen and its critical role in the transition to a sustainable energy future.
